strange surprise

Before we left for our long weekend away to my college reunion, I had (miraculously) cleaned & put away all the dishes in the sink. However, when we returned on Tuesday night, we were welcomed by a strange little surprise. Something was peeking out from the garbage disposal.

I plucked it with the roots intact and determined that it was a canteloupe seed. Apparently the seed had gotten stuck to the underside of the drain and had enough moisture to take root and sprout. So, I planted it in a little flower pot on my deck, even though I have no idea if it's even the right season to grow canteloupe. We'll see how it does...
